Assisting animals in danger

Ashia Cheetah Conservation is a South African non-profit organisation dedicated to cheetah conservation through rescue, wilding, and scientific research. Based near Paarl in the Western Cape, Ashia prepares captive-born and orphaned wild-born cheetah cubs for release into the wild whilst supporting research and caring for unreleasable resident cheetahs and leopards or animals in need of rehabilitation or temporary holding. Its ethical volunteering programme allows participants to contribute directly to conservation activities, animal care, and wildlife management while gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges facing one of Africa's most threatened predators.

Indigo Earth Foundation supports Bite-Back Shark Conservation in their mission to end shark finning and unsustainable fishing. By raising awareness, educating the next generation, lobbying for policy change, and working with businesses, Bite-Back helps ensure sharks continue to play their crucial role in maintaining marine balance.

Founded in 2003, Elephant-Human Relations Aid (EHRA) works to reduce human-elephant conflict and promote peaceful coexistence between people and Namibia's desert-adapted elephants. Operating across north-west Namibia, the organisation combines elephant monitoring, community-based conservation, education programmes, and practical conflict-mitigation measures such as protective walls, elephant water points, and early-warning systems. Through its field-based volunteer programme, participants contribute directly to conservation projects, elephant monitoring, and community initiatives whilst gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with human-elephant coexistence.

On Lissenung Island in Papua New Guinea, the Indigo Earth Foundation supports a turtle nest relocation and research program launched in 2013. The project fights egg poaching, and helps scientists collect vital data on the endangered green sea turtle.
